Scent Quest: Navigating the Journey to Discover Your Perfect Perfume

Choosing a perfume can be a difficult task, especially if we don't know our personal taste. The wide variety of fragrances on the market, and the difficulty in describing scents, can leave us feeling overwhelmed and confused. However, there are some strategies that we can follow to find the perfect perfume for us.

First of all, it is important to take into account that the sense of smell is easily saturated. If we smell many fragrances at the same time, our sense of smell may be affected and not be able to differentiate between them well. For this reason, it is advisable to limit the amount of perfumes that we smell in each session, and allow our sense of smell to recover between them.

Another strategy is to outline the type of smell that we like. If we can identify some fragrances that we like, we can search for others with similar notes. For example, if we like the smell of white flowers, we can look for perfumes that contain jasmine or gardenia in their composition. If we prefer the freshest aromas, we can look for fragrances with citrus and herbal notes.

It is also important to take into account the occasion in which we are going to use the perfume. Not all perfumes are suitable for all situations. A fresh and light perfume can be perfect for everyday life, while a more intense and seductive perfume can be more suitable for a special night.

In my experience as a perfumer, when a friend asks me for help selecting a perfume, I usually ask him about the products he uses for personal care, what perfumes he uses and on what occasions, and what fragrances he uses to scent his home. From this information, I can create a common profile, an olfactory common thread that allows me to find the perfect fragrance for your personal taste and needs.

This same strategy can be applied in the creation of a branded fragrance. In My Zent, we help the client to know which olfactory notes should be included in the composition of an exclusive fragrance to convey the brand attributes, the customer target, the colors of its visual logo, its differentiator in the market, among other important aspects. In this way, an olfactory logo can be created that represents everything that the brand wants to convey, and thus generate the impact of positioning and increased sales.

It is important to remember that selecting a perfume is a very personal thing, and what works for one person may not work for another. Therefore, it is advisable to take the time necessary to try different fragrances, identify what kind of scents we like and on what occasions we want to use them. With patience and a little help, we can find the perfect perfume that makes us feel safe and confident in any situation.
